dinner at "chryst chu-ch"
dinners at "chryst chu-ch"so christ church offers two dinners: 6.20 informal and 7.30 formal
informal: wear anything comfortable, barring the standard american pajama fare
formal: dress fairly well with your black coattails.
what are the coat tails? have you ever seen bbc renditions of emerson/austen/etc? well, whenever you see someone at oxford or cambridge, they're wearing a black coat that has coat tails. they're pretentious, formal, and cool as all heck.
anyway, so basically the informal dinner is considered the "eat it, and beat it" dinner b/c they want you out before the formal people start to come into the dining hall. the service is horrendous and i feel like i need to shove the food down my throat in order to stay at the the same pace with everyone else.
i'm eating faster here than in the states! and everyone says that europeans eat slower! not true...okay maybe not true b/c we're not in europe, but in england.
however, the upside is, we always have 1) appetizer 2) main course 3) dessert. so we do get enough food...for me, it's only for dinner
so that is my assessment for dinners at christ church.
